In a telling display of the growing tensions within Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF party, a video has emerged that captures a telling moment during Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s recent arrival at a government event. As Chiwenga, who is widely seen as the frontrunner to succeed the President Emmerson Mnangagwa, arrived at the Defense Forces Day event, other high-ranking officials promptly stood up to welcome him. However, one prominent figure notably remained seated – Chris Mutsvangwa, a ZANU-PF stalwart.
It was only after several minutes, and perhaps after realizing the implications of his actions, that Mutsvangwa eventually stood up to greet the Vice President. This incident has been widely interpreted as a reflection of the fierce infighting within ZANU-PF as Chiwenga solidifies his position and influence.
