Zimbabwe Youth declare, “President Chamisa is Our Commander—Why Do You Hate Him?”
By Wezhira Munya On October 26, 2024, hundreds of young Zimbabweans gathered at the homestead of the late Mr. Chomunorwa Chamisa, the uncle of President Nelson Chamisa, to commemorate a memorial service and unveil a tombstone. This event was not merely a tribute to a cherished family member but also a powerful expression of solidarity for President Chamisa, who has become a beacon of hope and change for the youth of Zimbabwe. The assembly served as a vibrant display of unity among the youth, who came together to honor both President Chamisa and his family during this significant occasion. In a show of love and support, youth attendees sang various songs, most notably, “President Chamisa is our commander.” This anthem resonated deeply, reflecting their unwavering allegiance to President Chamisa, a leader they view as a champion for their aspirations. Additionally, the youth engaged in a one song, asking, “Why do you hate President Chamisa?” This pointed question was clearly directed toward President Chamisa’s political adversaries, who have relentlessly criticized his leadership and stole his political party Citizens Coalition for Change.
