Change Radio reports that Mr. Trust Manjengwa was released from police custody. He was arrested for illegally holding a CCC party meeting at his house in Zaka South Ward 25.
We spoke to his lawyer, Advocate Dereck Charamba, who said, “Yes, I can confirm that my client, Mr. Trust Manjengwa, was released from police custody. He is in a safe house. We are still assessing his situation.”
We spoke to another CCC supporter based in Masvingo who confirmed the release and later on, in a text message, said, “Kindly note that peace champions played a great role in securing his release.” The Citizens’
Coalition for Change spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere, posting on her blog, also said, “We received a disturbing report that Trust Manjengwa was forcibly taken away by heavily armed police from his rural homestead in Zaka South yesterday. He was recently nominated to be a candidate there. He has now been released. We condemn this persecution of our members.” Previous article is here
