This afternoon, the President of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, addressed a meeting for the Harare Province Citizens at the Mbare Netball Complex in Harare. This highly attended event is seen as the starting point for the upcoming election campaign season. President Chamisa discussed the way forward for the party in the lead-up to the August 23rd elections.
Since it was an internal provincial gathering, specific details of the meeting cannot be reported. However, after the meeting, President Chamisa spoke about important topics. He focused on the state of the economy and shared the party’s plans to improve the economy when they win the 23 August elections. He pointed out that the ruling party, ZANU PF, has lost the support of citizens due to their failure in managing the economy effectively.
President Chamisa expressed his satisfaction with the process of nominating CCC candidates, which involved the communities in Harare and across the country. He called for unity among party members and encouraged them to remain hopeful as victory was within their reach. He also acknowledged the difficulties faced by people in rural areas, such as intimidation from ZANU PF and its affiliates. He urged those affected not to retaliate but to stay strong, assuring them that their hardships would soon come to an end.
