Persecution of opposition followers is continuing even though the ZanuPF leader denounces political violence.

This follows the victimization and persecution of opposition followers in Chivi South, Masvingo Province. Village heads, headmen, and chiefs, mostly in Nemauzhe Ward 23, are being threatened with death for supporting opposition parties, particularly the Citizens’ Coalition for Change.

However, ZanuPF is taking advantage of poor harvests in most parts of Chivi, so people are promised that they will be denied food aid from the government as drought relief when they’re found to be opposition followers.

Opposition supporters are being promised brutal treatment like what happened in the 2008 general elections.

CCC members have adopted the Mugwazo and Mango strategies as a way of keeping their identities as ZanuPF followers but internally as typically CCC members who will fulfill their desire for good governance in the ballot boxes in the coming elections.

Citizens are questioning why the elections are to be held in such an environment of terror if ZanuPF wants to compete alone.
