On 23rd January, 2026, Honourable Martin Mureri, the Member of Parliament for Masvingo Urban, made a notable contribution to Vurombo Primary School by donating new furniture. This initiative underscores his commitment to improving educational facilities in his constituency.
Vurombo Primary School, one of the largest institutions owned by Masvingo City, has seen a significant increase in student enrollment, which has created a pressing need for additional resources. In response to the school’s request, Honourable Mureri utilized the Constituency Development Fund to purchase 30 chairs and 30 desks, enhancing the learning environment for the students.
Mr. Mutimhairi, the head of Vurombo Primary School, highlighted the importance of this donation, stating, “Our school has a large enrollment, and there is a significant need for adequate furniture to accommodate all learners. This contribution will greatly benefit our students.”
During the handover ceremony, Honourable Mureri commended the school for its exceptional academic performance and encouraged students to persevere in their studies. He remarked, “Education is the cornerstone of our society. I urge you all to continue working hard for a brighter future.”
As an award-winning human rights lawyer, Honourable Mureri emphasized his dedication to supporting education in Masvingo Urban. He stated, “Investing in education is essential for the growth and development of our community. I am committed to ensuring our schools receive the support they need to thrive.”
Receiving the furniture on behalf of Vurombo Primary School, Reverend Chitata, Chairperson of the School Development Committee, expressed his profound gratitude to Honourable Mureri for his generosity. He remarked, “This support will make a significant difference in the educational experience of our students, and we are truly thankful for it.”
Mr. Wilstaff Sitemere, the Ward 6 Councillor, also attended the ceremony and praised Honourable Mureri’s contributions, acknowledging the diligent efforts of the school administration in fostering a conducive learning environment.

Honourable Mureri has actively engaged with the citizens of Masvingo Urban to identify priorities for the 2025 Constituency Development Fund. His initiatives include drilling boreholes and installing solar-powered systems, providing furniture to various schools, donating sleeping beds to a local old people’s home, and equipping schools with solar energy to power computers. These efforts exemplify his commitment to enhancing the quality of life in his community.
