The Real Agenda For Youth Transformation Trust (RAFYT) recently hosted a donation drive at Alpha Cottages in Masvingo, collecting essential items for the children. This noble act underscores Aristotle’s notion that “man is a social animal,” highlighting our innate tendency to form connections and communities. As Thomas Hobbes echoed, life can be “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short” without such connections, but RAFYT’s efforts are helping to bridge the gap.
“We came up with an idea of going and spending time with the kids in Masvingo, in partnership with Charles Austin Theatre, Wezhira Dance Group, DC Entertainment, Peer Councillors from GZU, Miss Toto, Miss Masvingo, Miss Personality and everyone who donated” said Ngonidzashe Faith Mawere, RAFYT Programmes Officer. The event brought joy and hope to the underprivileged kids, showing that collective efforts can elevate humanity.
The kids enjoyed music, dance, and motivational talks. “They sang a song for us. We also sang in response and did a rapping contest and modelling contest, motivating the kids on their potential,” Faith added. Plans are underway for a follow-up visit next year, further solidifying the power of community and social bonds.
