Writing on his microblogs, Senator Timba said that the problems faced by the Zimbabwean currency have nothing to do with the currency itself but the leadership behind it.
Zimbabweans have witnessed several currencies (about ten) in the past decade. These include gold coins, gold tokens, and all failed to gain the trust of the people of Zimbabwe.
Statutory instruments, arrests, and many other oppressive ways have been introduced to try and indirectly force consumers and businesspeople to accept the currencies over the years.
Critics argue that it is the lack of leadership legitimacy that has led to the deteriorating economic system in the country.
This year, despite the country lacking foreign currency savings and adequate gold to back a currency, the new RBZ Governor went on to launch a currency. A view that was seen by every other reasonable person as unnecessary and anti-progress.
Despite the fact that the country has an abundance of minerals, especially Gold, the RBZ showed that they only have 1.1 tonnes of gold. Economists argued that this is far below the expected amount of gold to back a currency.
In his statement, Senator Tinba went on to reiterate the need for a fresh election to correct the 2023 sham elections.
“Solution lies in a fresh election which must yield a government based on the free will of the people. Anything else is putting lipstick on a pig.”

This comes after the SADC observer mission, among other observer missions, concluded that the August 23 elections fell short of the requirements of the local, regional and international standards of free, fair and credible elections.
This led to the Citizens Coalition for Change under the then leader and presidential candidate, Adv. Nelson Chamisa, to champion a fresh election under the supervision of SADC and other regional bodies.
Zanu-PF has tried so hard to ignore the observations by SADC by using either capture or coercion to silence regional voices from condemning the sham election.
However, this has created a serious political crisis which has led the country to remain in election mode even more than eight months after the rigged election.
