Despite no longer holding office, the former Zvimba East MP, Hon Oliver Mutasa has shown an unwavering commitment to supporting the vulnerable citizens in his constituency. His recent initiative, the Village Scholarship Fund, demonstrates his ongoing dedication to improving the lives of orphans and underprivileged children in Zvimba East. Using his social media platforms, particularly Twitter (now X), he calls for partners and donors to help fund educational opportunities for those who might otherwise go without. His efforts remind us that when corrupt regimes neglect their citizens, it’s up to the community to organize and overcome oppressive barriers.
Notably, the former MP collaborates with Hon. Willard Madzimbamuto, the recalled MP for Seke Constituency, who also supports his community through various initiatives. Together, they work alongside Hon. Chigumbu of Budiriro South and Hon. Zinhumwe of Hwedza South, who (Hon. Zinhumwe) hosts the collective’s agricultural projects. The four are further complemented by Hon. Tinashe Mavhaire, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Masvingo Central, who has overtaken the sitting ZANU-PF MP in terms of political activity and tangible support for the struggling constituency.
What’s remarkable about these gentlemen is their relentless commitment to their communities, even after being unlawfully removed from office or while pursuing new political roles. They use personal funds to aid those in need, whereas many current MPs, despite receiving Constituency Development Funds (CDF), fail to make a difference. By focusing on these crucial community needs, they not only show exceptional dedication but also set a powerful example for office bearers and political aspirants alike. Their work serves as a beacon of hope and a call to action, proving that leadership and compassion can thrive, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Below is Hon Mutasa’s statement as he call for well wishers to partner with him in serving and saving the Zvimba East orphans.
VILLAGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Greetings citizens, a number of citizens have expressed their desire to partner with us on this great program. Our orphans want to attend classes from Monday next week, with ex books and winter uniforms. Citizens, kindly come on-boad as partners, a US$30 contribution is enough to enable an orphan to attend school this coming term.
No donation is too small to evoke a smile on the faces of the innocent but under-privileged children. Donate and make a difference. Thank you in advance. Remember, if we incalcate this sense of social responsibility we make a big difference in building a better nation.
Thank you once again.
