The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) national spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, has demanded justice for Moreblessing Ali, a CCC activist who was abducted and brutally murdered exactly one year ago by Pius Mukundi Jamba, a member of ZANU PF. Moreblessing was abducted on May 24th, and her dismembered body was discovered a few weeks later on June 11th in a disused well at Jamba’s mother’s homestead in Nyatsime. Despite a year passing, the perpetrator of this heinous crime remains unpunished, causing anguish among Ali’s loved ones and supporters.
Mahere lamented the lack of justice and emphasized the urgent need for accountability. She condemned the regime’s oppressive tactics and drew attention to the unjust imprisonment of Honorable Job Sikhala, Ali’s lawyer, and a respected Member of Parliament representing Zengeza West. Sikhala has spent 344 days at Chikurubi Maximum Prison solely for advocating for justice on behalf of Moreblessing Ali.
Mahere highlighted the glaring injustice of Sikhala’s prolonged detention and called for his immediate release. She criticized the regime’s persecution of individuals who seek truth and justice, noting that such actions undermine the foundations of a fair and democratic society. The continued imprisonment of Sikhala casts a dark shadow on the principles of justice and human rights in Zimbabwe.
Mahere reiterated the CCC’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for Moreblessing Ali. She expressed solidarity with Ali’s family, Job Sikhala, and all those affected by the regime’s oppressive actions. Mahere called upon the international community to join their cause, demanding accountability and an end to the culture of impunity that plagues the nation.
Moreblessing body remains unburied as her family refuse to bury until their lawyer, Honorable Job Sikhala, is released from prison. The family say he possesses crucial details pertaining to the case. Their plea for justice and the release of Sikhala underscores the urgency and importance of resolving this tragic incident and bringing the responsible parties to justice.
