Five activists who participated in the 23 August elections under the Citizens Coalition for Change were today in court over allegations that they defaced Soneni Moyo’s posters.

Soneni was a double candidate imposed on the party by the ruling ZANU PF to cause confusion and reduce the opposition’s chances of winning the seat.

Soneni worked with Mbuso Siso and Sengezo Tshabangu, among other proxies, who signed for double candidates outside the party’s blessing.

The Magistrate at Tredgold Magistrate Court in Bulawayo today postponed the judgment to 11 March.

This is a clear case of persecution by ZANU PF, using the courts to threaten the activists.

The five victims are Tendai Masotsha, Hon Gift Ostallos , Ernest Rafamoyo, Dubes Summer and Lovewell Mwinde
