On the 19th of August, Zanu-PF members from Bikita East, along with Forever Associates of Zimbabwe [FAZ], ambushed and attacked two campaign vehicles belonging to the Citizens Coalition for Change party.
Bikita CCC Branded Campaign Vehicles Damaged by Zanu PF Members
The CCC-branded vehicles were attacked 3 kilometers away from the Chikuku business center. The vehicle windows were broken and damaged.
One of the CCC drivers, Mr. Reward Mudzingwa, who was driving the branded CCC campaign vehicle, stated, “Zanu-PF ambushed us during our campaign rally and attacked our cars. They used stones and other metal objects to damage the windows and bodies of our vehicles.”
Mr. Mudzingwa mentioned that they will be making a police report concerning this incident.
Zanu-PF and FAZ members, using 35 motorbikes, have essentially camped in Bikita East, attacking and intimidating citizens.
Numerous politically motivated violence incidents have been recorded in Bikita East by CCC party members against Zanu PF members, stated Mr. Struggle Desire Nyahunda.
“We strongly condemn the attack on our party vehicles by Zanu PF here in Bikita East. We urge our CCC members to remain peaceful despite the Zanu PF attacks. Police should arrest the perpetrators of this violence.” Nyahunda added.
Police in Bikita have yet to arrest Zanu-PF members who severely assaulted CCC members a few days ago.
