…….. As violence escalates in Bikita West, Bikita South and Masvingo West
Today [23rd August 2023], the Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC] members in Masvingo Province are under attack from Zanu PF and Forever Associates of Zimbabwe [FAZ].
The following are the violence cases that Zanu PF members excuted against CCC members today on the election day:
Zanu PF Bikita South aspiring member of parliament Mutodi Energy fired gun shots at Denda Bussines Tent Polling Station in Ward 6 of Bikita South, said Mr Struggle Desire Nyahunda.
Mtodi few months ago fired two gunshots to disperse CCC Bikita constituency members who had gathered at President Nelson Chamisa’s rally, at Baradzamwa Business Centre.
CCC Masvingo West aspiring member of parliament Pedzisai Gasva said, “I was attacked and my car was damaged by Zanu-PF members under the command of Zanu PF aspiring member of parliament and Residents Minister Ezra Chadzamira. ”
He [Gasva] further said, “also CCC members were attacked at the following areas: Munongo, Sipambi, and Charumbira.
Also CCC Masvingo West ward 10 councillor’s cqr was destroyed by Zanu-PF and FAZ members.
In addition, a CCC member in Masvingo West Mr Tichaona Mharadza Chiminya, said “Zanu PF members threatened that they are on their way to burn the houses of Hon Madzivire Rosewitter, Hon Gasva and his house [Hon Chiminya]”.
In Bikita West, CCC aspiring member of parliament Mr Gutuza Pikirai and ward 30 aspiring CCC Zinyama Trust Bikita West were attacked by Zanu PF members and were injured.
Mr Zinyama said, “l am going to the police station after Zanu PF members attacked us this evening.”
They have gone to report the case to the police.
In Chivi South, CCC Takudzwa Charare of ward 28, Dare polling station , was assaulted by Zanu PF and FAZ members.
CCC Chivi South aspiring member of parliament Mr Chikondere said, “I am disheartened that Zanu PF and FAZ members led by one Matewe have assaulted our member Mr Takudzwa Charare on the election day.”
Police are yet to arrest ZANU-PF and FAZ members who have unleashed violence against CCC members.
CCC members in Masvingo Province continue to call for peace and calm in the midst of Zanu PF and FAZ induced violence.
