On Thursday, July 20, 2023, the campaign team of Seke Constituency CCC party MP candidate, Willard Madzimbamuto, led by Ward 5 candidate Alice Tsingano, encountered an attack by ZANU PF militia in Seke Rural, specifically in the Besa area near Dema Tall Gate.
As reported by Cllr. Tsingano, their team comprised 20 members who were engaged in distributing campaign posters and flyers. Initially, everything was going smoothly in the Besa area until a convoy of ZANU PF thugs, led by Ward 5 chairman Tafadzwa Chitate and Ward 5 candidate Lovemore Mangwende, arrived. This gang, consisting of 15 heavily intoxicated militants, proceeded to use logs and physical violence.

Among those who suffered injuries during the incident are Antin Gombo, Melody Makoto, Elizabeth Sanyamahwe, John Muperi, Alexander Nikisi, Emanuel Ziyengwa, and Legwan Chihota. The victims promptly reported the incident at Ziko Growth Point ZRP Police Post. However, it appears that the police are unable to intervene effectively in matters involving ZANU PF.
During the altercation, the CCC Ward 5 candidate was almost abducted but managed to escape. After filing a police report, five of the injured individuals, namely Melody, Emanuel, John, Alice, and Antin, received medical treatment at a local hospital.
