In the run-up to the upcoming elections in Zimbabwe, people are speaking up about two important issues: land ownership in rural areas and the support provided to individuals with disabilities. They are calling for changes and urging their fellow citizens to vote for a new government that will address these concerns.
One group, called the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), is advocating for rural dwellers to have legal documents that prove they own their ancestral lands. This would protect them from being unfairly forced off their land. Nonhlanhla Mlotshwa, a CCC party member, is urging rural citizens to support the CCC and vote for a government that cares about their land rights.
People with disabilities are also joining forces with the CCC. They want a government that will provide better social care services. Dennis Mudzingwa, a member of the CCC, criticized the current government for not doing enough to support disabled individuals over the past 43 years. Mudzingwa is asking for a government that will make improving the lives of disabled people a priority.
Additionally, a group called the Chitungwiza Residents Trust (CHITREST) is drawing attention to the ongoing water problems in Chitungwiza. They believe that only a government that prioritizes the needs of the people, especially those who are poor, can solve this issue. Alice Kuvheya, a representative of CHITREST, is urging Chitungwiza residents to vote for a government that will take action and fix the water crisis.
