A major water crisis is gripping Mbizo Section 15 in Kwekwe, with residents facing daily hour-long cuts, and local MP Honourable Corban Madzivanyika is demanding answers.
Speaking in parliament, Madzivanyika blamed Kwekwe City Council for the mess, saying they allowed people to settle before the water infrastructure was completed. “The council is trying to shift the blame to a vanished developer, but they must take responsibility,” he said.
The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable Albert Mavunga, promised upgrades to the water mains, saying the old pipes are prone to bursting. He asked Madzivanyika to submit a formal complaint for investigation.
Madzivanyika insists the council’s negligence has left residents in a tough spot. “We need a reliable water supply, not excuses,” he said. The area’s water problems have been ongoing, with no end in sight.
