Cllr Robertson Tabvunya and the Kariba’s Ward 3 community are rolling up their sleeves for a major clean-up drive across the Nyamhunga neighborhood. The campaign kicked off at 8am today and will run until sunset. The initiative, fueled by a US$500 donation from a concerned resident who praised Cllr Tabvunya’s initiative, sees 87 members from local community-based organizations (CBOs) and residents pitching in to tidy up their environment.

The campaign aligns with calls for local authorities and residents to adopt participatory approaches to service delivery, particularly in waste management, as outlined in the Environmental Management Act. The Act mandates each ward to establish a Local Environmental Management Committee to ensure broad stakeholder engagement in Local Environmental Action Plans.

Cllr Robertson Tabvunya said the event is underscorering the power of community-driven solutions and participatory governance. “This is what happens when leaders and citizens unite for a cleaner, healthier neighborhood,” he said.
