The dynamic and youthful Honourable Gift Ostallos Siziba, former Member of Parliament for Tshabalala-Pelandaba Constituency, hosted a belated Father’s Day soccer tournament today, 6th July 2025, in Ward 13. The event brought together a vibrant intergenerational mix of young and veteran male community leaders from Wards 13, 20, and 21, fostering unity, mentorship, and community engagement.

Over thousand attended this soccer tournament.

 

The tournament, held at a local sports ground in the Tshabalala- Pelandaba constituency, was more than just a football competition—it was a platform for dialogue, empowerment, and social cohesion. Honourable Siziba, a dedicated representative of the people, has remained deeply rooted in his constituency despite political challenges, continuing to provide leadership, humanitarian aid, and developmental support.

Honourable Siziba was overwhelmingly elected as the Member of Parliament for Tshabalala-Pelandaba in the 2023 harmonized elections under the able leadership of the charismatic and popular President Nelson Chamisa. Despite being controversially recalled by ZANU-PF proxy Sengezo Tshabangu, Honourable Siziba has remained steadfast in serving his community. His unwavering commitment has seen him provide food aid, educational materials for students, moral support, and various empowerment initiatives to uplift the people of Tshabalala-Pelandaba.

Addressing the attendees, Honourable Siziba emphasized the role of sports in addressing critical societal issues.

 

“We are using sports to unpack the challenges affecting our community—building stronger families, combating drug abuse, and driving sustainable development initiatives,” he said.

 

In addition, Honourable Siziba said, “Today is not just about football; it is about bringing men together to reflect on their roles as fathers, mentors, and leaders in our society.”

 

The tournament featured friendly yet competitive matches, with teams from different wards showcasing their talent in a peaceful and festive atmosphere. The event also included discussions on responsible fatherhood, youth mentorship, and strategies to tackle drug abuse, which has become a growing concern in many communities.

 

The occasion was graced by several prominent figures, including: human rights defender Mr. Promise Mkwananzi; Honourable Eric Gono; Honourable Tafadzwa Ngadziore (Youth Advocate and Legislator), Councillor Mwinde; Councillor Maphosa; Councillor Anold Batirai Dube; (Community Leader) and Councillor Sherperd Sithole

 

Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative leadership in driving community progress.

 

The residents of Tshabalala-Pelandaba expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting how such events strengthen social bonds and inspire positive change.

 

“This tournament is more than just a game—it reminds us of the power of unity and the importance of standing together as a community,” commented Mr Thomas Ncube who attended this tournament.

 

As the sun set on a successful day, the message was clear: Tshabalala-Pelandaba is not just a constituency; it is a home—a place where leaders and citizens work hand in hand to build a brighter future.
