Today marks 6 years down the line after the killing of six Zimbabweans and leaving hundreds injured by soldiers and anti riot police in 2018 for demonstrating in the streets of Harare.

The protesters were killed by soldiers for demonstrating against the delays for the release of 2018 General elections by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

The 6 individuals were all civilians, and their deaths were widely condemned as excessive use of force by the military. The government later established a commission of inquiry to investigate the events, which concluded that the military’s actions were “unjustified and disproportionate.”
