In a somber turn of events, opposition Councillor Eliot Mugari of Masvingo West Ward 12 is mourning the untimely passing of his beloved wife, Mrs. Clara Chikweya- Mugari. The 44-year-old mother of four succumbed to complications from a mild stroke that she had been battling for the past three weeks.
Councillor Mugari, who won his ward seat as a council candidate of President Nelson Chamisa’s party in the August 2023 harmonized elections, is deeply grief-stricken by the loss of his life partner.
“I am deeply pained by the death of my beloved wife. She was our strong family support system. May my dear wife rest in eternal peace,” he shared, visibly shaken by the tragedy.
Mrs. Chikweya- Mugari, a devoted member of the Dutch Reformed Church of Zimbabwe, passed away on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024, while undergoing physiotherapy treatment at a local private hospital in Nemamwa Growth Point. She will be laid to rest at 9 am tomorrow at the family homestead in Mugari/Njaya Village under Chief Charumbira, Masvingo West.
The news of Mrs. Chikweya- Mugari passing has sent shockwaves through the Masvingo West community and far.
Mr. Pedzisai Gasva Chifamba, who was President Chamisa’s 2023 harmonized elections parliamentary candidate in Masvingo West, expressed the collective grief felt by those who knew and loved the late Mrs.Chikweya- Mugari . “Our hearts are broken after the death of our beloved mother. Her death came as a surprise to us as she was showing great signs of recovery. Our prayers and thoughts go to Councillor Mugari, their children, relatives, and the community at large,” Mr. Gasva said.
Hundreds of mourners, including family, friends, and members of the Dutch Reformed Church, gathered at the Nyaradzo funeral parlor today to pay their respects and bid farewell to the cherished community member. The pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church, Reverend Machokoto, led a prayer service, acknowledging the profound impact Mrs. Chikweya- Mugari had on the congregation and community.
Former Masvingo City Mayor and President Chamisa’s Masvingo cluster secretary, Ms. Shantel Chiwara, also expressed her heartfelt condolences, stating, “We are in deep hurt as Citizens who worked with Mrs. Chikweya- Mugari and her husband fighting for the total emancipation of Zimbabweans. It’s sad, she died young. But we thank God for her life.”
The untimely passing of Mrs. Clara Chikweya- Mugari has left an indelible mark on the Masvingo West community, and the outpouring of support and grief serves as a testament to the profound impact she had on those around her. As Councillor Mugari and his family navigate this difficult time, they find solace in the memories and legacy of a cherished wife, mother, and community member.
President Chamisa’s Masvingo District cluster leader, Mrs. Roswita Madzivire, encouraged all Citizens in Masvingo West and beyond to come and bury Mrs. Mugari tomorrow at 9am.
