The Citizens Coalition for Change ended its 14 days of disengagement from council and parliament yesterday. This was in response to the recall of 15 of their colleagues from parliament by an imposter Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu.
After the announcement by the speaker of Parliament, all the opposition MPs started protesting against the recalls, leading to the speaker of Parliament calling the police to remove two of the MPs from parliament. Mudenda ordered the removal of the two legislators, but the sergeant-at-arms were not able to force their removal as other CCC MPs surrounded Sibanda. In the following days, the Citizens Coalition for Change ordered their representatives to disengage from all government business for 14 days, from the 11th to the 25th of October. This was partially successful.
On the other hand, Mudenda suspended all protesting CCC MPs from parliament for six sittings, which was supposed to end on November 7. This suspension was not effective as it only affected MPs from a political party that had 27 senators and more than 500 councilors. Explaining the disengagement and suspension, Mudenda and the party deputy spokesperson, Hon. Siziba, said,
“We disengaged for 14 days; Mudenda’s suspension was of no significance because it ends on the 7th. Only MPs were suspended; we had 27 senators who were not affected and 500 councilors who were not affected by the so-called suspension.”
The Citizens Coalition for Change has stated that they do not know Tshabangu and have since made a police report against him.
The recalled representatives have challenged Tshabangu’s actions in court. It is, however, with the influence of ZanuPF that the honorable Speaker of Parliament accepted a letter from an individual, yet the CCC wrote to him way before, on September 11, telling him that only President Nelson Chamisa’s office would communicate with him on any business related to the parliamentarians.
Despite this advance notice, the speaker went on to act upon a letter he received from an imposter on October 7.
The leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change, President Nelson Chamisa, responding to someone who suggested a negotiation between himself and Tshabangu, said that he would rather talk to Zanu-PF, who sent the impostor, than talk to the impostor. He stated,
“I would rather engage the puppeteer than the puppets. Zanu PF is behind all this embarrassing nonsense. They are the engineers of this tomfoolery!”
