….. But fearless President Chamisa managed to address CCC members in the midst of teargas smoke.
Police in Ngundu fired tear gas at Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC] supporters and President Chamisa’s motorcade at Ngundu Business Centre.
Some CCC supporters have been hospitalized after being affected by tear gas, said CCC aspiring councillor Mr Mafadzavana.
“It’s sad that police fired tear gas at innocent people who are now battling for their lives in medical institutions,” said Chivi South CCC aspiring member of parliament Mr Danisai Chikondere.

In an act of bravery, President Chamisa addressed thousands of CCC supporters at Ngundu Business Centre despite the heavy presence of armed riot police and tear gas smoke.
CCC spokesperson advocate Fadzayi Mahere writes on her Twitter, “At Rutenga, armed riot [police] fired tear gas at Citizens peacefully waiting for our Change Champion in Chief, advocate Nelson Chamisa, to arrive for a whistle-stop rally. Despite the violence and intimidation, Citizens waited for President Chamisa who delivered a rousing address!”
President Chamisa addresses thousands of CCC supporters at Ngundu Business Centre while standing on top of a car at around 6 pm.
He had to address the rally later after police disrupted his rally through the use of tear gas.
Police had removed the podium where President Chamisa was supposed to address Citizens from.
Citizens’ cars and trucks provided lights for President Chamisa to be able to address Citizens as it was dark around 6 pm.

Commenting on the firing of police tear gas at Ngundu Business Centre, CCC deputy party spokesperson Mr Gift Ostallos Siziba said, “In Ngundu now – tear-smoke all over as we get into the vicinity. Tear gas canister fired towards the President’s [Chamisa] motorcade. Cowards are running scared! More pressure.”
CCC Chivi South members were waiting to hear President Chamisa addressing them.
But the police dispersed Citizens from Ngundu Business Centre through the use of tear gas.
Also, police were armed with guns, baton sticks, and vivacious police dogs.
Chivi South CCC aspiring member of parliament Mr. Chokondere said, “It’s a dark day in the history of democracy in Zimbabwe, where Citizens have been denied the opportunity to campaign and meet their President Nelson Chamisa. It’s only a few days left for Zimbabwe to go for harmonized elections on the 23rd of August 2023.”
The brave CCC Chivi South members were not moved by tear gas, police dogs, and baton sticks. Indeed, rural Citizens are no longer afraid of police brutality.
Earlier today, police officers in Mwenezi also fired tear gas at CCC members who had gathered at Rutenga Business Centre for President Chamisa’s rally.
Thousands of CCC members had to run for their dear lives after police fired tear gas at Rutenga and Ngundu Business Centre.
Recently, police officers have been treating CCC as a banned political party.
