Armed Zanu-PF members from Chivi North robbed a water pump, which was donated by CCC candidate Mr. Emmanuel Chidaushe, along with phones and other valuable items from Mr. Tawanda Gokuda, on May 4, 2023.

According to Mr. Gokuda, the Zanu-PF members used guns and machetes to rob him and his wife, forcing them to lie on the floor. This was a traumatic experience for Mr. Gokuda.

The water pump was donated to Ward 4 residents by Mr. Chidaushe on the previous Saturday in response to their request for assistance. The residents were going to use the pump at the Gomba diptank.

Mr. Godfrey Huruva (Mukungunugwa), a Zanu-PF member who won the primary elections to represent Chivi North and hails from Ward 4, was among the people who attacked President Nelson Chamisa’s motorcade in 2022 during the President’s visit to the Chivi area.

CCC member Mr. Chidaushe condemned the use of guns and machetes by Zanu-PF members, calling it a primitive way of intimidating CCC members during the harmonized elections. He further identified Mr. David Manyeruke as the leader of the Zanu-PF members who stole the water pump.

Today, Mr. Tawanda Gokuda, a CCC member, reported the robbery to the Mashava police with case number RRB number 5394645. The police are now conducting investigations.

Mr. Tinotenda Hozheri, a CCC nominated ward 4 council candidate, said, “We are disappointed with Zanu PF members who stole a water pump that was going to assist Chivi ward 4 residents. In addition, we hope the police will arrest Zanu-PF members quickly. History shows that the police do not arrest Zanu-PF members.”
