Today, there was great jubilation at Masvingo High Court, as top human rights lawyer Advocate Martin Mureri secured bail on behalf of council CCC candidate Mr. Zireva.
Now Masvingo High Court judge Zisengwe grants bail to
$50 000 RTGS to CCC Chivi South Ward 28 uncontested nominated candidate, Mr. Ishmael Zireva.
He was found guilty of poking a FAZ member and sentenced to four months in prison.
However, he denied the allegations.
The High Court judge Zisengwi noted that Chivi magistrate Nyoni erred in her judgment on denying bail. Advocate Mureri is driving to Chivi Magistrate Court to pay $50,000 in bail, and then Mr. Zireva will be released from prison.
CCC Chivi Central’s nominated parliamentary candidate, Mr. Peter Makotose, said, “We are disappointed that Chivi Magistrate Nyoni handed down a tough and inhuman decision against Mr. Zireva. We are glad the High Court Judge gave bail to our member.”
The following CCC members attended High Court in solidarity with Zireva: nominated CCC council candidate Mavis Masengwe from Chivi South Ward 25 , Webster Matiwa from Chivi Central Ward 30, CCC Chivi North member Mr. Mapiye, Masvingo Urban Ward 4 nominated councillor Sekwidzai Shayamano (Mai Vembo), MaryAnne Manasidze (Mai Wish), and Shepherd Nemadziya.
