I ake note of the argument that: “Mwonzora’s court challenge is MDC-T business that shouldn’t concern non-MDC members”

This is respectfully, shallow

Every series of events, meant to deconstruct our electoral democracy, with far-reaching consequences, is everyone’s business.

Genuine concerns around the delimitation report, VR, are being hijacked by people with a nefarious agenda

The agenda isn’t to unlock the logjam of disputed polls, but rather front the establishment of elitist arrangements that’ll silence citizens & reduce them to bystanders. We need to safeguard the principle of representative democracy.

We shouldn’t be hoodwinked into supporting the establishment of a system that will make it even more difficult for citizens to have accountable representatives, who are always a product of electoral processes.

That our electoral system continues to be bastardized isn’t debatable!

Yet the solution isn’t surrendering the vote altogether.

It’s sanctity should be regained.

As we bemoan the death of our democracy, the very idea of having an electoral democracy shouldn’t be abandoned.

To this end, this explains why I’m totally in support of all efforts to push voter registration, particularly around youths/virgin voters.

This is an obsession for some of us, even if it appears that while at it, we are ignoring all regime election manipulation shenanigans. And while promoting Register To Vote campaign, we also expose electoral malpractices

There’s no contradiction nor mix-messaging.

The message is to say: ‘we are aware of your intentions to bastardize our elections, yet are unwilling to abandon the right to elect our own leaders’

The need to continue cultivating a culture of active participation in electoral & governance issues by all citizens, cannot be over-emphasized.

Dare I say, that idea, is far more important than individuals and political organizations we support or rally behind, every election.

I have even previously said, forget about Nelson Chamisa and CCC for a second.

In fact, I’ve unapologetically said, we can debate the solution, but atleast, let’s agree on the problem.

The problem is misgovernance & poor leadership.

This problem officially uses the name: ZanuPF.

That problem, also called ZanuPF, needs to be delt with.

I shiver at the thought of living in a society where people become totally disengaged in governance processes.

A society where noone cares anymore about how our country is functioning. That for me, would be beyond tragic.

They can threaten to rig or even activate the rigging.

They can spread so much misinformation about about how change will always be illusive, or that the (yellow) change we seek will potentially be worse than the mess we see currently.

There’s logic to all that madness.

The best way to respond to all that, is restating our desire to register, vote, and be governed by leaders of our choosing.

Nothing should move us aways from communicating this message, every single day, even in light of all their shenanigans.

This is our country too.

enkosi!
