Citizens’ councillors have been advised not to attend Zanu PF’s November 26 indoctrination program, disguised as an “Indaba.” The communities who include the voters have said that they are concerned about the ruling party’s intentions and the potential for ideological manipulation.
Speaking to Change Radio today, Senator Ralph Magunje said that this is not the first time Zanu PF has attempted to disguise its indoctrination programmes. The first programme was referred to as the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology training workshop, while the second was disguised as a heritage programme. Now, Zanu PF is attempting to pass off its latest effort as an indaba.
“We are well aware that Zanu PF is always not straight forward. They indicate right and turn left. We are advising Citizens Councillors who believe in the vision of Citizens’ President Chamisa that our ideologies are on conflict with Zanu PF. We also need to protect our core principles and we refuse to have our Councillors redirected mind wise in terms of the doctrines. What they’re trying to do is to Zanunise our Citizens Councillors” explained Senator Magunje. “How can Caps United ask to train Dynamos players prior to their next week’s match? Not possible” He questioned and subsequently answers himself.
The citizens’ advisory comes amid growing concerns about the blurring of lines between party politics and governance. By urging Councillors to boycott the programme, citizens are sending a clear message that they will not tolerate attempts to undermine the integrity of local governance.
As Zimbabweans, it is essential to remain vigilant and protect the principles of democracy and good governance. The boycott of Zanu PF’s indoctrination programme is a step in the right direction, and citizens must continue to hold their leaders accountable for their actions.
