The by-election dates have been proclaimed, with the nomination court day set for November 7th, and a month later, on December 9th, the elections will be held.
The CCC party had previously stated that they are not moved by the recalls and had ordered their representatives in council and parliament to protest against the move.
They blamed ZanuPF for having its hand in promoting imposters to destabilize and prolong the legitimacy crisis in the country. The CCC will hold demonstrations in Bulawayo on October 23rd. The CCC youth have hinted at a robust course of action if the ongoing crisis is not resolved.
Commending on the proclamation, CCC spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi said, “How does one make a proclamation on a matter that is still before the courts unless they know the outcome of the courts beforehand? I hope the courts are not in complicity with this constitutional ravage!“
Another political commentator Pedzisayi Ruhanya said it is clear that Zanu-PF has its hand in the recalling of CCC representatives aimed at destabilizing the Citizens’ movement “By elections proclaimed after Tshabangu recalls. This issue has huge regime fingerprints. The destabilization has the footprints of the highest authority in both party and state beyond Tshabangu”
He further said “Final confirmation of the nature of the state in post-Mugabe Zimbabwe”
It is clear that Zanu-PF is focusing on achieving a two-thirds majority in parliament, Ruhanya said “Zanu PF’s search for 2/3 in Parliament unraveling very fast”
Ostallos Siziba, CCC’s Deputy Spokesperson has registered displeasure and hinted that the general Zimbabweans shall act against this obvious manipulation by Zanu-PF and Emerson Mnangagwa. He said “The proclamation for by elections for disputed and fake vacancies created by Zanupf through proxies has all but shown Mnagangwa’s hand and intention to destroy and decimate the authentic opposition after he was defeated in the just ended election. The Citizens Movement will not accept this!”
