The self-proclaimed and impostor Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Acting Secretary General, has recalled Masvingo City Mayor Shantel Chiwara and Epworth Chairperson (Mayor) Anne Sande.
Mayor Shantel Chiwara, aged 25, became the first female and youngest Mayor of Masvingo City since independence.
Mayor Chiwara defeated Zanu PF council candidate Mr. Hwacha by over 1,500 votes to win Masvingo West Ward 2 council elections on 23rd August 2023.
Also, Epworth got its first female chairperson since independence, Anne Sande, aged 25.
Sande and Chiwara made history by becoming the youngest female Mayors in Zimbabwe.
Citizens in Zimbabwe appreciated President Nelson Chamisa and his party for promoting and uplifting females after deploying young female Mayors.
Interestingly, in Masvingo City and Epworth, only two female mayors were recalled. This shows that Tshabangu hates young female leaders.
However, the imposter Tshabangu wrote a letter to recall Masvingo Mayor Chiwara to Zanu PF Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Minister Winston Chitando.
In turn, Zanu PF Minister Chitando wrote a letter recalling Mayor Chiwara on 18th October 2023. The letter states that he, Chitando, recalled Mayor Chiwara on the basis of a letter he had received from Tshabangu, which stated that 17 councilors from Masvingo (including Masvingo City Mayor Chiwara), Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South, and Epworth Masvingo had ceased to be members of the party.
“I wish to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the CCC stating that the following councilors have ceased to be members of the CCC political party. The 12 members from Bulawayo are Shepherd Sithole, Nkosinathi Hove Mpofu, Donaldson Mabutho, Takunda Felix Madzana, Simbarashe Dube, Tinevimbo Maphosa, Thobeka Mmeli, and Arnold Batirai, while the other four from the women’s quota are Sarah Cronje, Tabeth Mhizha, Dorcas Sibanda, and Tshongwe Zibusiso. The other four members are Granger Nyoni and Gugu Ncube, both from Matabeleland South, Mbiri Maundura from Matabeleland North, and Mayor Anne Sande, aged [25], from Epworth, and Masvingo Mayor Shantel Chiwara, to make them 17.
“In terms of Section 278(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, as read with section (1)(k), the above-mentioned wards are now vacant,” reads Chitando’s letter.
Masvingo Mayor Shantel Chiwara acknowledged the receipt of the expulsion letter.
CCC President Chamisa and party spokesperson Mr. Mkwananzi are on record disowning Tshabangu, whom they called an impostor.
Also in Masvingo Province, Tshabangu has recalled CCC Senator Honorable Madzikanda.
Honorable Senator Madzikanda’s recall was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Mudenda.
