Yesterday, around 11:00 PM, members of Zanu-PF from Chivi South reportedly attacked Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC]election agents.
The CCC party’s election agents who were targeted in the attack include Mr. Tizirayi Gwauya from ward 24. He resides at Museva shopping center.
“I can confirm that Zanu-PF members attacked me. I feel intimidated by their actions and they even threatened to burn down my house,” stated Mr. Gwauya.
Lisas Murambiwa, a CCC aspiring councillor for ward 24 in Chivi South, strongly condemned the intimidation and assault on Mr. Gwauya.
In another incident, Zanu-PF members in ward 24 of Chivi South also attacked the residence of Mr. Willymore Gwarinda, who serves as a CCC election agent.
Narrating the incident, Mr. Gwarimba said, “Last night, around 11:00 PM, Zanu-PF members attacked my house and vandalized the windows. I am deeply saddened by their actions.”
It is alleged that the Zanu-PF members in Chivi South are attempting to manipulate the upcoming elections. To achieve their objectives, they are resorting to intimidation, escalating violence, and causing damage to CCC properties, claimed Mr. Makore Hungwe, a member of CCC.
This morning, both Mr. Gwauya and Mr. Gwarinda plan to file a formal report with the police regarding the attacks.
Mr. Salavan Mafadzavana, an aspiring CCC councillor for ward 25 in Chivi South, called on the police to take action against the Zanu-PF members responsible for the intimidation and destruction of CCC properties.
