The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Youth Taskforce organized a vibrant rally at Tshabalala Hall in Bulawayo to mark the International Day of the African Child. The event saw enthusiastic participation from youths across all provinces, eager to engage in discussions and activities relevant to their role in shaping the country’s future. The rally featured speeches by CCC youth leader, Takudzwa Ngadziore, and CCC Deputy National spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba.
Addressing the gathering, Ngadziore spoke on the critical role of young people in the upcoming elections on August 23. He urged the youth to recognize that they hold the power to choose between the continued hardships under the ruling ZANU PF government or opting for a CCC-led administration that promises transformative policies aimed at revitalizing the economy and creating employment opportunities, which are essential for the aspirations of the youth.
Siziba, in his speech, reaffirmed the CCC’s commitment to achieving state power through non-violent means. He stressed that the party would not be swayed into resorting to violence to attain its goals. Siziba urged young people to use the power of the ballot as their primary tool in the struggle for change.
“Our method of struggle is the ballot. There are those who advocate for a violent revolution, and they have the right to define their struggle and choose their methods. But for us in the CCC, our method is a non-violent national democratic revolution that relies on the power of the ballot,” stated Siziba.
Siziba also took the opportunity to respond to comments made by former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo who is living in Exile, who criticized the CCC. He said that the revolution was local and not influenced by external forces like Moyo, Siziba emphasized that the struggle for change was being led within the country.
Expressing confidence in the upcoming elections, Siziba saud the CCC was poised for victory on August 23. He cited survey predictions by research institutions, police, and the military, which all indicated a potential win for Advocate Nelson Chamisa, the CCC’s presidential candidate.
Despite challenges faced by the party, including the arrests of its members harassment of members of parliament, Siziba spoke of the resilience and strength displayed by the CCC. He said CCC’s performance in previous by elections demonstrated their ability to garner significant support, signaling the nature of a democratic revolution driven by the party’s values and culture.
