In an exciting turn of events, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, has witnessed a surge in support within rural areas, signaling a shift in the country’s political landscape. Traditionally regarded as strongholds for ZANU PF, these rural regions are now showing increasing favor towards the CCC, a development that could have significant implications for the upcoming general elections.
Honourable Jeffreyson Chitando, a CCC senior official and former MP for Masvingo Central, shared the party’s remarkable progress in rural areas during an interview with Change Radio today. He said that the CCC has been able to attract support in locations that were once deemed inaccessible for the opposition. This newfound backing signifies a notable change in political dynamics and suggests that the CCC’s message of hope and a new beginning is being well recieved by rural communities across Zimbabwe.
The rise in support from rural areas has bolstered the CCC’s confidence in the upcoming general elections, regardless of the challenges posed by the electoral environment. Dr. Pedzisai Ruhanya, a well-respected academic and political analyst, firmly dismissed claims that the opposition party would face defeat. He labeled such analysis as “bogus,” adding that CCC possesses a strong public appeal that will play a pivotal role in securing victory on August 23.
Moreover, the CCC Women Taskforce Coordinator, Councillor Monica Mukwada, has made an impassioned plea for women to actively participate in the forthcoming general elections. Speaking to Change Radio, Councillor Mukwada said that women should take the lead in driving change within their communities. Her call not only reflects the CCC’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment but also recognizes the indispensable role that women play in shaping the nation’s future.
