The CCC is a law abiding institution. We believe in ethical leadership that is mainly characterized by integrity, honesty and truthfulness. We don’t believe in misleading information like what the police is exhibiting in this document.
Yet Asscom Nyathi in his biased statement, mentions the youths. It was prudent for him to have acquired firsthand information before he embarrasses himself by giving false information to promote a political cause.
The investigating officer and the second witness both testified under oath that not more than 50 members attended the party’s internal meeting, hence arresting less than 30 members in a dragnet arrest.
Members of the ZRP shouldn’t be partisan, according to the national constitution. Instead of following the constitutional principles, Asscom Nyathi chose to do ZanuPF bidding.
The second witness, who’s the second in charge at BUDIRIRO police station said the accused members never resisted arrest, were not violent, and were only singing and chanting party slogans, “ngaapinde hake mukomana.”
We condemn this continued abuse of state institutions to persecute innocent citizens. The “animal farm” behavior by the regime in Harare must be condemned in its entirety. The law should be applied equally and not on partisan grounds.

He further confirmed that the arrests were made at a private residence where the accused had gathered for their internal meeting. He clearly stated that they were all within the confines of the private residence’s boundaries – a high density suburb.
It’s very sad to note that a respected and highly ranked police officer, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi could mislead the public by publishing falsehoods. The majority of the arrested persons are family members—men, women and grandparents. Only one is a minor.
