On 15th November, 2025, hundreds of residents and relatives gathered to pay their respects to the Chinosiya family following the passing of Amai Chinosiya. The community came together to console Baba Chinosiya and their loved ones during this difficult time.
Amai Chinosiya was laid to rest near her family home in Chiundura, Ward 10. The funeral drew numerous attendees who shared their memories and tributes to a woman regarded as a pillar of strength in both her family and her community.
Among the speakers was Honorable Amos Chibaya, who reflected on Amai Chinosiya’s significant contributions as a founding member of the democratic struggle in Zimbabwe since 1999, alongside her husband, Baba Chinosiya. Recognizing her unwavering support for President Nelson Chamisa, Hon. Chibaya remarked that Amai Chinosiya believed President Chamisa is a capable leader poised to transform Zimbabwe’s political, social, and economic landscape for the betterment of all citizens.
Hon. Chibaya voiced his concern over the economic turmoil that Zanu-PF has inflicted upon the nation, emphasizing that Amai Chinosiya firmly believed in the necessity of change. During his address, Honourable Chibaya urged the community of Chiundura to refrain from engaging in conflict based on differing political beliefs. He appealed for unity, highlighting that Zanu-PF has historically employed violence since 1980 to suppress opposition, particularly in rural areas.
Despite the intimidation tactics employed by Zanu-PF, Hon. Chibaya praised rural opposition members like Amai Chinosiya, who remained steadfast in their fight for democratic change in Zimbabwe. He called for citizens to embody harmony and understanding, reminding them of the strength that comes from unity.
Numerous attendees, including family members and community leaders, echoed Hon. Chibaya’s sentiments, describing Amai Chinosiya as a loving person, an encourager, and a dedicated leader who deeply impacted her community. Her legacy of resilience and commitment to democratic principles will be remembered by all who knew her.
