Local Authorities/Councils are caught in between Political Sabotage and Under Funding Amidst the Political and Economic Crisis – Sewage Flowing in Rusape Town.

The Rusape town council’s failure to provide basic services has reached crisis levels, with the rank at Rank Musikana becoming a breeding ground for disease. The council’s inability to collect refuse and repair the continuously bursting sewage system behind the toilets has created a health hazard that threatens the well-being of hundreds of residents and vendors.

The situation at Rank Musikana is serious, with overflowing sewage and uncollected garbage posing a high risk to public health. Vendors and customers are exposed to unsanitary conditions, increasing the likelihood of disease outbreaks. The council’s neglect has created an environment conducive to the spread of waterborne diseases, such as cholera and typhoid.

The Rusape town council’s failure to deliver basic services is a reflection of the broader challenges facing local authorities in Zimbabwe. The councils are caught inbetween sabbotage by the ZANU PF led ministry of Local government in underfunding by the same government. The councils are run mainly under the Ministry of Local Government, which has seemingly failed to ensure that local authorities fulfill their obligations to provide essential services. This failure is a testament to the Zanu PF-led government’s inability to deliver on its promises.

The situation at Rank Musikana requires immediate attention. The Rusape town council must take urgent action to address the refuse collection and sewage repair issues. The government must also take responsibility for ensuring that local authorities deliver basic services. The health and well-being of Rusape residents depend on it.
