In a historic meeting that took place on May 25th, 2024, President Nelson Chamisa’s lieutenants had a rendezvous with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) President Julius Malema in Polokwane, South Africa. This gathering not only highlights the recognition of President Chamisa’s leadership but also showcases the capabilities of his trusted cadres.
President Chamisa’s lieutenants, Mr. Bryne Nyoni and Councillor Prince Shava of Hwange Central, who hail from Matabeleland North, recently had a meeting with the President of the EFF and other senior EFF leaders.
President Julius Malema, a true Pan Africanist known for his unwavering fight for the rights of Africans, commands a significant following in South Africa and beyond. The EFF, under his leadership, is poised to cause a major upset in the upcoming general elections on 29th May 2024.
South Africa is currently in the midst of its national and provincial elections, with the Special voting process already underway and South African citizens living abroad having cast their votes. The participation of South Africans in the diaspora has been celebrated by many Zimbabweans, who themselves have been fighting for their right to vote. However, the Zimbabwean government, led by Zanu PF, has denied its citizens living abroad the opportunity to vote.
After their meeting with President Malema, President Chamisa’s lieutenants, Nyoni and Shava seized the opportunity to meet with the esteemed former South African Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Mkhwebane, a respected advocate and former prosecutor, has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since October 2023, representing the EFFighters. She held the position of the 4th Public Protector of South Africa from October 2016 until September 2023.
During their visit, Nyoni and Shava were also privileged to meet other prominent leaders within the EFF. This encounter served as an opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen the bonds of friendship between these political parties.
The EFF has distinguished itself through a well-organized and highly effective election campaign. The party has made significant investments, boasting a fleet of branded cars, a well-trained team of election agents, a clearly articulated election manifesto, a fully equipped command center, and branded party t-shirts, among other resources. Transparency is a cornerstone of the EFF, evident in their candidate selection process, which encompasses individuals from various educational backgrounds, both formally and informally educated, ensuring representation for men, women, girls, individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, students, businesspersons, people with disabilities, the affluent, and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This inclusive approach enables the EFF to truly represent the diverse range of South African citizens.
As the 29th May 2024 general elections draw closer in South Africa, the meeting between President Chamisa’s cadres and President Malema exemplifies the spirit of leadership, Pan-African unity, and the shared vision for a better future for all Africans. It serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and the potential impact that political alliances can have in shaping the destiny of nations.
