Pro-Chamisa Chivi North holds feedback meeting
On March 15, 2024, Emmanuel Chidaushe, a former member of the Citizens Coalition for Change and pro-Chamisa 2023 harmonized elections aspiring member of parliament for Chivi North, demonstrated his compassion and support for disadvantaged rural students by paying the examination fees for 23 secondary school learners. He paid almost $4000us fees in total.
These students come from various challenging backgrounds, such as being orphans or living in child-headed families and some with elderly grandparents.
Mr. Chidaushe expressed his commitment to providing quality education to marginalized rural learners and announced the initiation of a scholarship program. As part of this program, he personally covered these examination fees from his personal funds. It is important to note that this scholarship is available to all students, regardless of their parents’ political affiliations.
Due to the high political tensions in Chivi North, the names of the beneficiaries will not disclosed in this article in order to protect them from potential political backlash from ZanuPFmembers.
Mr. Chidaushe’s pro-Chamisa stance makes any assistance he provides to the people of Chivi North subject to political scrutiny.
In addition to Mr. Chidaushe’s efforts, other prominent pro-Chamisa members, including Senator Vongai Tome, honorable Amos Chibaya, honorable Gift Ostallos Siziba, honorable Prince Dubeko, and Honorable Mapulanka, have been providing assistance to displaced villagers in Masvingo West who were affected by the activities of land barons associated with the ruling Zanu-PF party. However, these acts of support have led to harassment by Zanu-PF members against the villagers who received help from the pro-Chamisa team.
An anonymous school head expressed gratitude for Mr. Chidaushe’s timely assistance, particularly considering the exorbitant examination fees that many rural families cannot afford. With a significant number of parents unemployed and the added burden of drought exacerbating the suffering in rural areas, the payment of these fees is a significant relief.
In Zimbabwe, the Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations are crucial for obtaining employment or pursuing further education. However, due to poverty, many rural learners may fail to register for these exams.
Shantel Chiwara, a former mayor and pro-Chamisa member, suggested that the government should implement a policy of free secondary examination fees to support disadvantaged children, especially girls, in taking their exams.
Speaking after attending highly subscribed pro-Chamisa women’s meeting in Masvingo yesterday, Chiwara said, the guest speaker at this event Mrs Monica Mukwada urged females to support each in terms of advancing education, businesses and politics.
Meanwhile, yesterday the pro-Chamisa group in Chivi North, led by Mr. Chidaushe, held a feedback meeting to discuss the current political, socioeconomic, and other issues affecting the region. The meeting was held in Chivi North ward 2, at councillor Mutenhe’s homestead.
These meetings serve as a platform for updating and engaging pro-Chamisa supporters and members. During the meeting, Mr. Chidaushe emphasized the need to address the impact of the El Nino-induced drought, which is affecting the entire country but poses particular challenges for the drought-prone area of Chivi North. Food aid is urgently required to support the residents in this region.
