Mrs Alleta Ushe [nee Dzanya] Proportional Representative councillor for Mudzi Rural District Council from the Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, has resigned from her position on the council.
[See attached resignation letter]
This marks the first resignation of a CCC councillor in support of President Nelson Chamisa’s departure from the party.
Mr Thomas Mbetu commented that, councillor Ushe is very brave to resign from council without getting benefits such as house stands, business stand and salaries.
Councillor Ushe’s resignation sets a historic precedent as the first council resignation across Zimbabwe in solidarity with President Chamisa.
In her resignation letter addressed to the Minister of Local Government, she stated, “I hereby tender my immediate resignation as the PR Councillor for Mudzi RDC, elected under the Citizens Coalition for Change in August 2023.”
Furthermore, in the letter, Councillor Ushe explained her reason for resigning, stating, “…I am no longer a member of CCC following the resignation of Nelson Chamisa as the party’s leader.”
The Mudzi Rural District Council management and councillors received the resignation letter on the 5th of February 2024. It has been reported that the letter has been forwarded to the Minister of Local Government to declare the seat vacant.
According to sources within the Mudzi Rural District Council, the fake CCC Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu, Vice President Tendai Biti, and Vice President Professor Welshman Ncube will announce the individual who will replace Councillor Ushe.
