Yesterday, hundreds of Gutu West Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members attended a by-election rally despite Zanu PF political violence. The rally took place at Chiriga (Matutu) Business Centre.
Speaking to Change Radio, CCC National Organizer Amos Chibaya condemned, in the strongest terms, Zanu PF violence against CCC members in Gutu.
This violence took place on 8th November 2023, a day before the by-election rally.

The use of violence by Zanu-PF against CCC members was to intimidate them from attending yesterday’s rally. However, Gutu West CCC members attended the rally as an act of defiance.
Gutu West Zanu PF members, led by Benson Gadzikwa, severely assaulted and injured the following CCC members: Loveness Gwatidzo (Mai Chiro), Patrick Chimbare, Saviour Changa, Mr. Chiro, and Tawanda Shonhiwa.
The injured CCC members made a police report against Benson Gadzikwa and other Zanu PF members; however, the police are yet to arrest Zanu-PF members. The assault case was reported under number RRB 5677816 at Chatsworth police station, Gutu.
Also, police in Gutu West burned meat that was donated by CCC aspiring Member of Parliament Mr. Ephream Morudu. The meat (two cows) was supposed to be eaten by CCC members in Gutu West as they celebrated winning the Ward 6 council seat during the 23rd August 2023 harmonized elections.
On 11th November 2023, Gutu West CCC candidate Morudu anticipates defeating Zanu PF candidate Paradza in the by-election.
