He is a political prisoner in Zimbabwe. Hon. Job Sikhala is being held at Chikurubhi Maximum Prison without trial, bail or being convicted.
He was arrested on June 14, 2022, merely for performing his duties as a lawyer for the Ali family, whose family member, Moreblesing, had been abducted and murdered by a known ZanuPF active member, Pias Jamba.
The hand of Emerson Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF is visible in his case, as they failed to convict him but still kept him in jail for such a long time.
He has been arrested more than 60 times and has never been convicted.
Hon. Sikhala’s prolonged detention remains a dark stain on democracy.
It is clear that human rights are not respected and protected by the authorities in Zimbabwe the rule of law and the constitution have long been forgotten.
Instead of delivering justice, the courts and law enforcement now work under Zanu-PF instructions against opposition politicians to ensure they silence them through arbitrary arrests, abductions, torture, prolonged detention, and by convicting them and imposing harsh sentences.
Many cases of politically motivated arrests and court verdicts are being carried out in all parts of the country, with the just-ended election period recording the highest numbers.
