The Zimbabwe Republic Police officers in Masvingo report that they were compelled today to vote under the supervision of their superiors.

They voted in an open space near Masvingo Central Police station.

These police officers will be on duty during the voting day [23rd August 2023] and were allowed to vote prior to the elections through postal voting.

Some of the police officers here in Masvingo allege that they are being coerced into voting for Zanu PF candidates by their commanders.

The majority of Masvingo Police Officers reported that they were being compelled to vote under the watch of their bosses.

Voting under the supervision of senior police officers caused junior police officers to feel intimidated and, as a result, they voted for candidates who were not of their choice.

This postal voting process is a farce, providing an opportunity for Zanu PF to manipulate the elections, said CCC Masvingo urban aspiring member and advocate, Martin Mureri.

Furthermore, there were no Citizen Coalition for Change agents or any agents from other political parties, nor were independent election observers allowed to monitor today’s voting process.
