Yesterday [31st July 2023], Zanu-PF members in Chivi Central attacked Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC] aspiring ward 18 councillor, Mr Wilson Runopamwa.

Mr Runopamwa confirmed that he was attacked by Zanu PF members who were wearing Zanu PF party regalia.
He was attacked yesterday at around 11:30 pm.
As a result of the attack, Mr Runopamwa and his family ran away and sought refuge in the nearby mountains.
They will also seek medical attention early this morning.
Violence against CCC candidate Mr Runopamwa took place after the training of CCC agents at his house yesterday, said CCC member Mr Francis Makore [Hungwe].
Mr Makore [Hungwe] facilitated the training of CC election agents at Mr Runopamwa’s homestead.
Chivi Central has managed to train all election agents and also managed to map all polling stations.
Zanu PF members in Chivi Central have escalated violence against CCC members as harmonized elections draw nearer.
CCC Chivi cluster deputy leader Mr Henry Chivhanga condemned the attack of Mr Runopamwa and his family by Zanu PF members.
Mr Hungwe [Makore] and Mr Runopamwa are on their way to report the case of violence against Zanu PF members who attacked them.
The increased popularity of President Nelson Chamisa and the CCC party in rural constituencies has caused a headache among Zanu PF supporters and members.
As a result, Zanu PF has activated a violence strategy to intimidate CCC members.
However, the intimidation strategy is failing to work as CCC members continue to attend rallies, do door-to-door campaigns, and hold meetings.
