Citizens’ Coalition for Change, Gutu West, Ward 7 aspiring councillor, Mudavanhu John who was nominated on the 21st June was forced by Faz and CIO to withdraw his papers under duress.

Such actions not only undermine the democratic process but also infringe upon individuals’ constitutional rights. It is essential to highlight that any form of electoral manipulation, particularly through coercion and intimidation, is unconstitutional and should never be tolerated.

Furthermore, it is particularly alarming that security services such as the CIO (Central Intelligence Organization) are allegedly involved in manipulating the electoral process. The manipulation of security services by any political party, in this case, ZANU-PF, is a serious violation of democratic principles. Security services should remain impartial and serve the best interests of the entire nation, rather than being manipulated for partisan gains.

It is crucial for a healthy and functioning democracy that such actions are thoroughly investigated, and if found to be true, the responsible individuals and organizations should be held accountable. Upholding the rule of law, protecting individual rights, and ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process are vital for a thriving democratic society.
