A shocking incident of corruption has come to light in Ward 5, Mhondoro Mubaira constituency, where 50 bags of maize donated by social welfare were stolen on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. The maize was intended to benefit vulnerable individuals in the area, but was diverted by ZANU-PF leadership and taken to a local teacher, Mrs. Murebwa’s residence.

According to eyewitnesses, the maize was transported using a car belonging to Mrs. Marowa, who is the secretary of Ward 5 ZANU-PF Councillor, Chirwa. The local ZANU-PF district leadership in Ward 5 was seen sharing the loot, which was later hidden at Mrs. Murebwa’s homestead.

The eyewitness, who spoke to Change Radio News Reporter on Saturday, June 29, implicated Chizivano Mamombe, the youth chair, and Manyanda Mainwing, the main wing chair, in the scandal.

This incident highlights the rampant corruption and abuse of power by those entrusted to serve the community. We demand accountability and transparency in the distribution of social welfare resources.

These corrupt individuals have no shame, stealing from the very people they are supposed to serve. They are a disgrace to their community and their party. We call on the authorities to take swift action against these looters and ensure that they face the full force of the law.

The community is outraged by this betrayal of trust and demands justice. We will not stand idly by while our leaders enrich themselves at our expense. We demand a full investigation and the recovery of the stolen maize.

The actions of these corrupt officials are a slap in the face to the vulnerable members of our community who were depending on this aid. We will not let their selfishness go unpunished. We will continue to expose their corrupt deeds until justice is served.

The involvement of ZANU-PF leadership in this scandal is a clear indication of the party’s lack of commitment to the welfare of the people. They are more interested in enriching themselves than serving the community. We demand that the party takes disciplinary action against these corrupt officials and ensures that they are held accountable for their actions.

Furthermore, we call on the government to take immediate action to address the issue of corruption in the distribution of social welfare resources. This incident is not an isolated one, and we fear that many more cases of corruption are going unreported. We demand a thorough investigation into the matter and the implementation of measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The people of Ward 5 and the surrounding areas are suffering due to the selfish actions of these corrupt officials. We demand that the stolen maize be returned to the community and that those responsible be held accountable. We will not rest until justice is served and the community receives the aid they so desperately need.

We urge the community to remain vigilant and to report any further incidents of corruption to the authorities. Together, we can fight against corruption and ensure that our leaders are held accountable for their actions.
