On August 29th, 2023, Zanu-PF members in Masvingo West assaulted a member of the Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC], Mr. Luckson Chigevenga.
Mr. Chigevenga was brutally assaulted by six Zanu-PF members at Dunira Business Centre in the Victoria Range location.
He believes that Zanu-PF members targeted him due to his support for the CCC. He was also a part of the campaign team for Mr. Pedzisai Gasva, the CCC’s aspiring member of parliament candidate for Masvingo West, during the harmonized elections.
The ZanuPF thugs used stones, open hands, and other objects during the assault.
Mr. Gasva narrowly lost to Zanu-PF candidate Ezra Chadzamira.
As a result of the vigorous attacks by Zanu-PF members, Mr. Chigevenga sustained injuries to his right shoulder, face, and right leg.
Following the assault, 32-year-old Mr. Chigevenga reported the incident at Runyararo Police Station under reference RRB 5553856.
He then proceeded to sought treatment from a private medical doctor.
Mr. Pedzisai Gasva, the CCC’s aspiring member of parliament for Masvingo West, strongly condemned the assault on Mr. Chigevenga by Zanu-PF members. He [Gasva] urges the police to promptly take action and apprehend those Zanu-PF members responsible for the attack.
